1 Athenodoros to the agoranomoi greetings! The copy of the memorandum from praktor Pyrrhos is appended below for you. Hence, register the purchase of the slave for Thaÿbastis accordingly. Farewell, year 8, Hathyr 28” (7 Jan. 197). To Athenodoros the dioiketes from Pyrrhos. In accordance with the decree promulgated on year 8, Phaophi 2nd (12 Nov. 198) concerning those who hold Egyptians enslaved during the unrest in the country, Thaÿbastis, the daughter of Sokrates, a Syrian, with her guardian Apollonios, of the soldiers under the command of Anthemides, Cretan, paymaster of the elite cuirassiers, has declared Thasion, aged 18, whom she says to be Egyptian. Thaÿbastis has made the payment into the account of the king at the bank of Philip on Xandikos 15, year 8 (19 Nov. or 19 Dec. 198), 500 bronze drachmas, plus agio of 52 drachmas, 4 obols, and the resulting tax on slaves, 110 bronze drachmas, 5 obols, in full (?). If you agree, order the registration of the purchase for Thaÿbastis, who is 30 years old, short, with honey-colored complexion, round-faced, and a mark on her right cheek, with her guardian Apollonios son of Apollonios,

26 40 years old, of medium size, with honey-colored complexion, a balding head, his ears protruding, and a mark on the left side of his forehead, living at Arsinoe Euergetis street. Purchase of Thasion, who is 18 years old, short, of dark complexion, round-faced, has many marks, well recognizable. Year 8, Hathyr 26, Daisios 4.

"Athenodoros to the agoranomoi, greetings. Attached is a copy of the memorandum of Pyrrhos, the praktor. Set up a katahgraphe in accordance herewith. Farewell, year 8, Hathyr 28. ;To Athenodoros, the dioiketes, from Pyrrhos. It has been declared, according to the decree posted from year 8, Phaophi 2, in relation to everybody who owns Egyptian slaves originating from the rebellion in the country, Thaybastis, daughter of Socrates, Syrian with Apollonios as her guardian, one of the people of Anthemidos, Cretan, and one of the members of the elite armoured forced, Thasion, approximately 18 years old, who says (or: of whom she says) that she is an Egyptian. And Thaybastis has made the payment at the bank of Phillipos into the account of the king in year 8, Xandikos 15. In copper 500 drachmas and an agio [(drachmas)]52 and 4 obols and the resulting tax for the purchase of of slaves in copper 110 <drachmas> and 5 (obols) . . .
