Summary This papyrus contains the order for payment of 2 drachmas to an unnamed beneficiary. The money was paid to cover the expenses incurred by a shipment of an unnamed object or substance by the road. This shipment was made from a property owned by the brothers in the Arsinoite nome.

Condition This medium-brown is completely preserved although it has sustained some damage with a number of holes which do not impede a full transcription of the text.

Hands Written in a quick and rather informal cursive. The papyrus has been used before. Traces are visible in various places of an earlier washed out text. Abbreviation takes place by the raising of the last letter written.

APIS Translation (English)

"Year 20, Pharmouthi 18. Give from the account of Julius Theon and Julius Theon for the expense of a shipment by the road from the Arsinoite nome, their Excellensies having come for a visit, of 12 drachmas through the same Arapai 2 drachmas. (2nd hd.) Give the 2 drachmas."
