Title | Letter, Byzantine |
---|---|
Summary | Letter from a large estate context, probably 6th century CE. The writer mentions sending a pronoetes and symmachos to the Oxyrhynchite village of Pthochis. He claims not to have received a response (perhaps to previous letters) and to be in need of an exemption (ἄφεμα). Letter closes with uncertain reference to a village headman (μείζων) and a symmachos. The only intact word in frag. B (χρεωστουμένους) indicates that the letter surely concerns a debt of some sort. |
